EMDR Saffron Walden

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of physical and emotional trauma.  To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.

PTSD Saffron Walden

Scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post traumatic stress, panic attacks, grief, disturbing memories, phobias and performance anxiety.  When a person experiences a physical or emotional trauma, a moment can become "frozen in time,"; remembering a trauma may feel as bad as going through it the first time because the images, sounds, smells, and feelings are just as vivid. Such memories have a lasting negative effect that interferes with the way a person sees the world and the way they relate to other people.

Trauma Saffron Walden

EMDR seems to allow normal information processing to be resumed.  Following an EMDR session, a person no longer relives the vivid images, sounds, and feelings when the event is brought to mind. They still remember what happened, but it feels distant, less emotional and less upsetting. EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person remember an experience in a new and less distressing way.

Benefits of EMDR

Perhaps you have had a traumatic experience, like an accident; I will clear that trauma so that you are no longer reliving it so vividly - you will let go and move on.

Perhaps you have lost a loved one; I will support you to move through the grieving process - together we will clear the emotional trauma before activating the positive emotions you need to remind you of the joy of living.

Or perhaps you simply need some time reconnecting with your own wellbeing, nourishing your soul and rediscovering your zest for living.  I will empower you to achieve that peace within.

What my clients are saying...

"I feel that you have given me a fresh start.  I wanted to move on from a bad experience but was unable to forgive - I felt stuck in a rut of negativity and sulks.  It wasn't making me happy but I couldn't move on.  During our sessions you demonstrated to me how the negativity was affecting me physically.  I was punishing no one but myself.  You helped me face the bad experience once and for all so that it no longer eats away in my head.  I was given (and gave myself) permission to move on - something I couldn't give myself previously for some reason.  If I now feel stressed, negative or unforgiving about anything, I think about where I am feeling it physically and have been tapping and visualising.  I now know where I want my mind to be and am able to get there.  I feel like I'm taking control. I have put the past behind me to enjoy the future - all thanks to you."

"I came to Jen for help with anxiety and stress after the death of my mother. I was suffering with a whole range of overwhelming emotions and felt stuck in my grief. She was so gentle and led me through the technique in a way that felt safe and reassuring the whole time.

Immediately afterwards I felt physically lighter and the whole memory of my mother's death felt different - it was no longer traumatic and I could think of that time as if I was looking from a distance. Not quite detached but I could remember my Mum and smile about happier times rather than feeling weighed down by negative emotions.

I've been telling everyone about this technique and would highly recommend a visit to Jen if you need to change something that's holding you back! Thanks Jen xx"
